April 10, 2017: Inside INdiana Business Synopsis

The co-founder of a rapidly-growing Indianapolis logistics company believes its technology focus will set it apart from the competition. Spot President Andrew Elsener says the vast majority of the large players in the industry use the same software, which gives his third-party provider an advantage to help customers quote, book and track freight. The company is planning to add 260 jobs as part of a $2 million investment in its downtown Indianapolis headquarters. “Nobody really grows up and says, ‘Boy, I want to be a truck broker,'” Elsener told Inside INdiana Business Television, so the company has emphasized an entrepreneurial culture to attract and retain top talent.

“When we started this, we set out and our main pillar was creating a software that we think, when this comes out in the next couple of months, will be a gamechanger. Not only for ourselves, but we created a couple tools for shippers and carriers that we know — and we have a good feeling — will really bring a different approach to the industry,” Elsener said.

Spot Freight located to its current headquarters, the former Jillian’s building in downtown Indianapolis, in November and it currently employs 80 Hoosiers. You can connect to more about its growth plans by clicking here.
